Our Story
On July 12, 2012, the late Mr. Christopher D. Taylor, Esq., serving as the founding contact agent and Board Member, joined forces with fellow leaders Mr. Alan Warner, Mr. Jeff Perry, and Mr. Earl Pough—all distinguished members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter. Guided by a shared vision to uplift and empower, they filed with the State of New Jersey to form a nonprofit organization. Just five days later, on July 17, 2012, Making A Better Tomorrow Foundation (MABTF) was officially established.
Since its inception, MABTF has stood as a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the youth and families of Southern New Jersey. Recognizing the urgent need for community-based programs and support systems, our foundation is committed to educational enrichment, leadership development, financial literacy, holistic wellness, and digital empowerment.
From awarding scholarships to college-bound students to partnering with schools, libraries, and civic organizations, MABTF creates opportunities that meet young people where they are—while equipping them for where they can go. Our innovative programs include:

Resolution in Loving Memory of Mr. Christopher Dwayne Taylor, Esq
Founding Member and Legal Counsel
July 18, 1961 – March 15, 2025
WHEREAS, Making a Better Tomorrow Foundation, Inc., founded in October 2013, exists to empower, uplift, and invest in future generations through community development, education, and service; and
WHEREAS, one of the original visionaries and founding members, Brother Christopher Dwayne Taylor, offered his time, talents, and legal expertise to shape the very foundation of this organization; and
WHEREAS, Brother Taylor played an instrumental role in the legal establishment of Making a Better Tomorrow Foundation, Inc., personally assisting in the drafting of the Articles of Incorporation, and ensuring that the mission and structure were rooted in sound legal and ethical principles; and
WHEREAS, he served diligently for over a decade as Legal Counsel, faithfully advising the Board of Directors, protecting the Foundation’s integrity, and advocating for the community we serve; and
WHEREAS, his leadership, character, and quiet wisdom made him a trusted confidant, a passionate servant leader, and a model of professionalism, compassion, and purpose; and
WHEREAS, his love for community, youth empowerment, and social equity was demonstrated not only through his legal work, but also through his active engagement in community programs, board meetings, and strategic planning efforts; and
WHEREAS, Brother Taylor’s legacy extends far beyond legal documents—he was a pillar of integrity, a champion of justice, and a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend who leaves behind a lasting imprint on all who knew him;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of Making a Better Tomorrow Foundation, Inc. mourns the loss and celebrates the life of Brother Christopher Dwayne Taylor, with gratitude for his unwavering service, dedication, and devotion to building a better tomorrow; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be presented to his loving family as a lasting tribute to a remarkable man whose light continues to guide the mission and heart of this Foundation.
